  1. Thanks for this piece  Amma. I started reading a translated version of the Quran a few years ago because of my little understanding of Arabic and because I felt deep down that the Islam I knew as I was growing up could not be the Islam that people are talking about today. Unfortunately, there has often been a failure to distinguish between Islam and cultures; Islam and personal traits;  Islam and reactions to personal experiences/struggles. The more I read the Quran, the more I am comforted by the fact that what I grew up knowing about Islam as a fair and peaceful religion is what is contained in the Quran. Like one of the guests in the video, I stopped defending Islam by words. Instead I try to represent Islam as I know it through my actions.

    • JK you raise a very important point. Saadia, one of the girls on the panel pointed out that culture influences religion and it is very true. I think a lot of the misconceptions about Islam is due to the cultural influences. I believe we need a lot of interfaith dialogue amongst us Christians, Hindus, Muslims Sikhs, Atheists etc. So we can stop the religious hatred that is being perpetuated in our society today

  2. WOW! i am ashamed to say i had been brainwashed by the media into believing Negative things about Muslims. But i don't blame the media, I blame myself for not reaching out to seek understanding from Muslims. Thank you for this video.

  3. AMMAZING!  This video is so wonderful. I have been asking my self these same question that you asked on your show and I never thought anyone answering them for me thank you so much. You had ammazing people like yourself to answer these questions. You also asked them good questions. KEEP YOUR JOB UP AMMA YOUR DOING AN AMMAZING JOB. MAY ALLAH BLEES YOU

  4. Amma, I wanted to thank you again for inviting me for this piece. As I've said before, you've done an excellent job with the material and you're just quite the brilliant journalist — never afraid of asking the tough questions.
What's really wonderful about your work and your online presence, is that the conversation can still continue here even after the cameras have stopped rolling. There's an old sufi saying that likens God to the Ocean, and humanity to a mere drop of water. And like concentric circles, when we do good on this earth, the goodness spreads.
